Au printemps 1927 le photographe August Sander part avec l'écrivain Ludwig Mathar pour un voyage en Sardaigne afin de réaliser une publication sur cette île encore trop méconnue. Lors de ce voyage, August Sander s'arrête une journée à Villasor. Il y réalisa trois photographies ; une vue du château, une vue de la fenêtre du château, ainsi qu'une vue de l'église se situant sur la place principale. Près de cent ans plus tard lors de ma résidence à Villasor, j'ai tenté de reconstituer les mêmes prises de vues réalisées par Augste Sanders. Inévitablement ces images montrent les mêmes lieux ayant subi le passage du temps, l'aménagement urbain, le développement de la végétation et les diverses traces liés à l'activité de l'homme. Les trois négatifs de ces photographies ont été insérées de manière secrète dans les archives photographiques de la ville afin de construire une fausse mémoire historique.
An evidence of what does not exist
In 1927 photographer August Sander with the writer Ludwig Mathar goes for a trip to Sardinia in order to make a publication on this island still too little known.On this trip, August Sander stops in Villasor for one day. He realized three photographs to document the specificity of the village. One is a view of the castle, an other is a view of the castle window and the last is a view of the church situated on the main square. Nearly a hundred years later during my residency in Villasor, I tried to recreate the same shots taken by Augste Sanders. Inevitably these images show the same scene having suffered the passage of time, urban planning, the development of vegetation and various traces related to human activity. The three negatives of those photographs have been inserted in secret in the photographic archives of the city to build a fake historical memory.
